The (Joe Martin) Volunteer Award
This HFH award commenced its history in season 1998 – 1999 and was named the Joe Martin Memorial Cup (Player of The Year)
Originally the trophy was awarded on a yearly basis to an individual player whose seasonal performance was classified as exceptional.
Unfortunately no records remain of previous individual winners.
During its course of history, the criteria surrounding its presentation changed from that of an individual, to that of a group or team of people.
In 2003/2004 the trophy was awarded to all the ‘Ladies’ who volunteered to run and operate the kitchen at Wilmere Lane.
Unfortunately history shows once again that these were the only group/team to be recorded as having won this award.
With the inception of Accreditation, the Joe Martin Memorial Trophy award has been resurrected and once again criteria selection has changed.
Commencing season 2006/2007, the Joe Martin Memorial Trophy award is renamed the JOE MARTIN “Volunteer Award”.
It will be granted by the HFH Committee, to an individual volunteer who has performed admirably throughout the season.
The award is in honour of Joe Martin, who died in 1998 and who was recognised as a significant sponsor of all fund raising activities.
The HFH individual selected each season for this trophy will be rated as a truly special volunteerwho goes that ‘extra mile’ for the HFH club.
