U7 Newbies 2022

Yesterday both Halton Farnworth Hornets Newbies teams took the field for the 1st time as Newbies since graduating from our Little stingers.
Lots of these children and coaches have been a part of our Little Stingers since the very beginning and to say they done us proud is an understatement.
We’re sad to see you leave the Little stingers but you all leave as shining examples to all the other Little Stingers that will follow you over the coming years.
Enjoy your next steps in the world of rugby league, make friends for life, learn life lessons that only us brave enough to play this game will learn, enjoy the good times, learn from the bads times, be good teammates, be humble, respect each other, your coaches and your opposition but most of all ENJOY it.
Thanks for being Little Stingers and keep smashing being Halton Farnworth Hornets🖤❤💚#haltonfarnworthhornets #littlestingers

Open Age Win!

Orrell St. James and Halton Farnworth Hornets brought down the curtains on a gripping Finals day as they fought it out for the NWML Cup.

It took just two minutes for the Hornets to open the scoring, as winger Matthew Tyrer found space and crossed over.

Although Orrell responded quickly with a try of their own, the Hornets regained the lead once again and looked to be in control heading into the break.

Orrell St. James had some ideas of their own, though.

When Sam Wilson scored for the Wigan outfit it seemed he’d only cut the Hornets’ lead before half-time, but there was still time for one more – Kieran Taylor crossed over in the last few seconds to turn it around and put Orrell 14-12 up at the break.

The drama continued in the second half, and Halton Farnworth regained the lead early on after some mesmerising footwork and finish from Jack Gatliffe – after Orrell St. James hit back once more, it would be Gatcliffe who stepped up again, making no mistake with a penalty goal in the dying embers to send an enthralling final to golden point.

The responsibility would fall on Gatcliffe’s shoulders again, though – with another penalty awarded, he had the opportunity to win it for the Hornets, and win it he did! Ice coursing through his veins, he nailed the penalty goal and made it 20-22 to ensure Halton Farnworth were crowned Cup champions after a riveting game of Rugby League.

Well Done!

As a community club it is not unusual for us to host large numbers on our site. We hope we never need to use the defibrilator but if it helps to save a life then it is priceless.

With Aidan’s support we now have our defib in place and it is accessible to all. We felt it was right to help Aidan in his community work and with fantastic support from our Masters section and Birchfield RUFC we are delighted to hand over £1500 to help support the next potential life saver.
